ive already downloaded my beta client - can't even remember from where. Does this mean i don't have a chance at getting one of these free tickets then?

Anyone can download the beta client at any time. But you won't be able to do anything with it unless you have a key. Having downloaded the beta client doesn't affect anything about the keys.
